Six Magic Hands
My dear brother, Mike Circuit, has told me of his experiences with WCF the last six years with vivid enthusiasm. However, it does not come close as to living and seeing the experience oneself. Who would have imagined to live and see this reality check on life? I was fortunate to see it, and learn about life altering situations. The light entering the eyes of the indigenous people for the first time is truly a modern miracle. This goes way beyond being a charitable and noble cause. There´s a certain perception of magic involved, not only the precise hands of the three doctors present but the whole aura surrounding the “Hospital de la Amistad” in Ometepec. I witnessed from the difficult and overcrowded screening to the six magic hands helping the needy. The humility of the reality is inspiring to make it better. Those of you who have chosen to make healing the world a vocation are grateful for any occasion to send light and love to people in your immediate sphere of influence and beyond. So one begins to wonder of the behavior of light and the velocity of sound, they both travel forever. Just like the church bell in Ometepec, that was melted down six years ago, as Doctor Freeman and myself, as interpreter, discovered to become the big bell of the church today. It still rings. Thank you W.C.F. for allowing me to be present in the Ometepec mission (February, 2012).
I thought this poem from William Blake is accurate: “To see a world in a grain of sand and heaven in wild flower, hold infinity in the palm of your hand and eternity in an hour” .
